De Kock and Amla Sets New Record In ODIs ; After Demolishing Bangladesh In 1st ODI

South Africa crushed Bangladesh in 1st ODI by 10 wickets as their openers Quniton De Kock and Hashim Alma thumped unbeaten centuries at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley on Sunday.

Chasing a fighting total of 279, De Kock and Amla made it look so easy as the hosts chased the target with 43 balls to spare and in the process, the duo set a new record of the highest chase in ODIs, without losing a single wickets.

Previous best was set by the England last year only, when their openers chased down 256 against Sri Lanka at Birmingham. Jason Roy 112 (95 balls) and Alex Hales 133 (110 ballss) added unbeaten 256 opening partnership to took their team to 10 wickets win with still 95 balls to ball.

Also, the duo are now tied at number three in the list of highest opening stand in the 50-over format of the game.

 

The Bangladesh innings was revolved around the century by Mushfiqur Rahim (110 not out 116 balls, 2 sixes and 11 fours) who was unable to field after suffering a hamstring injury.

For South Africa Kagiso Rabada  picked 4/43 and Dwaine Pretorius 2/48. Although the Proteas bowling figures are not too impressive but still more than a par on batting pitch like this.

With this win, the hosts have taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series, with the second ODI to be played at the Bolland Park on October 18.
