Fa Du Plessis Knock provides SA total on the board

Adelaide Oval (day/night), 24-28 November 2016

Day 1: Changes in Australian team was certain and it happened as Australian team stepped in the field with 3 debutants Handscomb, NJ Maddinson and MT Renshaw. South African Captain Du Plessis who was cleared to play match after found guilty of ball tampering; won the toss and elected to bat first.

But SA not got the start what they were looking for as the team lost its first three wickets under 50 runs mark. Stephen Cook and skipper Du Plessis had a partnership of 51runs which gave little hope to SA however soon S cook was caught on 40 by smith on the bowling of Starc.

Du Plessis was controlling the innings at one end but and completed his hundred (118*) the second highest score of day night test match. But skipper didn’t have enough support from other end as wickets were falling on regular intervals.

Finally SA declared the innings on the score of 259/9. It was quite surprising decision as Du Plessis was still on the crease with debutant Shamshi playing well. Hazlewood was the men who rattle the SA innings by picking 4/68; Starc and Bird picked 2 wickets apiece. In reply Australia started the innings watchfully as they ended the day without losing any wicket and ended the day on 14/0
