The new list of ICC ODI rankings revealed, England overtook India

The shocking news for Indians fans is that team India slipped one spot down in the latest ICC Odi rankings and England rise to top.

Under the leadership of his coach Trevor Bayliss’s guidance and captain Eoin Morgan, England won 41 out of 63 matches played after the 2014-15 season. England have won their last six ODI series and have reached the Champions Trophy semi-finals in 2017.

Along with this, England is one of the strongest contenders of the World Cup title to be held in 2019. In January this year, England had beaten Australia 4-1 in the Test series, while in the series against New Zealand in March, they won 3-2. England is at fifth place in the rankings for Test teams.

The England team has gained eight points and it is now topped by 125 points. The Indian team has lost 3 points and now it is on the second position with 122 points.

The latest ranking came following the annual update in the performance of the 2015-16 and 2016-17 season were taken into count and 50 percent weightage is given. While the 2014-15 season has not been included, when England won only seven out of 25 matches.

Last time in January 2013, the England team had achieved top position in ODI ranking.

After the annual update, India lost one point to remain in the second position with 122 points.

South Africa, who were earlier in the second position, dropped to the third position as they lost four points, going down to 113 points from 117, making them nine points below from India. New Zealand remained in the fourth position with 112 points. The rest of the places remain unchanged, thus ensuring that the current top 10 ranked sides will participate in the upcoming ICC World Cup in 2019.

ICC T20I Team Rankings

There is no change in T20 ranking in which Pakistan is at the top with 130 points. Afghanistan is now eighth ahead of Sri Lanka. Australia is second and India is in third position. Following are the teams of New Zealand and England.
