Jadhav acquired the injury during the team’s opening match against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.
Jadhav batted at the number four spot in Chennai’s chase but retired hurt, as he felt hamstring in between the match in 13th over and he only returned at the fall of the ninth wicket when his team needed seven runs to win from the last over.
He thumped a six and a four against Mustafizur Rahman to secure a breathtaking one-wicket win.
However during the batting, it was clearly visible that he was in trouble. He scored 24 runs against Mumbai in 22 balls. During his innings he made a four and two sixes. Their strike rate was 109.09.
Michael Hussey said:
“Unfortunately for us, Kedhar Jadhav has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament,” CSK’s batting coach Michael Hussey said ahead of his side’s first home game of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders.
“His hamstring scan did not come back so good. I believe it is a Grade 2 tear and he is going to be out for some period of time. We haven’t picked a replacement as yet but we will go through the process. It is a big loss for us because he is obviously a very good player and a key player in that middle order. There are big shoes to fill for that little man I guess.”
Kedhar Jadhav was one of the most costly players of Chennai Super Kings. Chennai picked him at Rs. 7.8 crores at the IPL auction, earlier in January.
CSK has not named replacement of Kedhar Jadhav yet.
