The first ODI of 3 match ODI series between India and South Africa begin at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium here on Thursday.
The last time when these two teams met at this venue for a Twenty20 International (T20I) game last year, it was abandoned without a being ball bowled.
India are heading into the series after tasting a 0-3 defeat in their last ODI series against New Zealand, whereas South Africa have won a 3–0 clean sweep against Australia in their last ODI series under the captaincy of Quinton de Kock.
However, with the comfort of home venues India will be hoping for a better result.
Three Key players are making come back for the Team India like Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan.
Dhawan suffered a shoulder injury during the ODI series played at home with Australia. He was not part of the team on the New Zealand tour. Dhawan now wants to strengthen his place in the team by performing brilliantly before the T20 World Cup.
At the same time, Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are also returning to the team after a long time. Hardik had to withdraw from the team due to pain in the lower back. After being away from the field for five months, Hardik was fully fit through surgery.
