India beat Sri Lanka by innings and 53 runs to take invincible 2-0 lead in series

On day 4 of the second test match at Colombo (SSC) India took a 2-0 unquestionable lead in the three-match Test series by beating hosts in the second Test by an innings and 53 runs. Sri Lankan team showed so far their best performance in the series as the two players of Sri Lanka i.e. Dimuth Karunaratne (141 runs) and Kusal Mendis (110 runs) played like champs as both of them added 191 runs partnership for the second wicket and gave some optimism to hosts and this will definitely help them in future matches as present is gone and it was not enough for the match.

Sri Lanka team was enforced to follow on as they were all out on 183 runs in the first innings and trailing by 439 runs which was a mountainous target for them but still they showed some guts after the disastrous performance in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test Match at Colombo.

Meanwhile Ravinder Jadeja claimed his 9th 5-wicket haul and broke Sri Lanka back bone after the lunch and made sure that India won’t bat again in this Test Match. It was a first victory by an innings or more for India in Sri Lanka and, following their biggest victory by runs in Galle last week, ensured an eighth straight series triumph under Captain Virat Kohli. 

India has now won back-to-back away test series in the Sri Lanka having clinched the previous series in 2015 by 2-1. The Sri Lankan team had shown good batting performance the second innings can they stop Virat Kohli and his boys from clean sweep in Pallekele (Kandy)? Where the third test starts on 12 August.
