INDvsENG: Five Players Played Vital Role in Team India’s victory in Third Test

It took just 17 balls for Team India’s famous victory over England by 203 runs in the third Test. Along with this victory, Kohli and Company made this series alive again as they were behind the by 2-0 in the series and now 1-2 fourth test will be crucial one. In his Test match Team India’s batsman showed great temperament and batting class.  On the other hand, bowlers broke the backbone of the England batting lineup with their strong performance.

These players have made an important contribution in Team India’s victory

Virat Kohli 

In the first innings of the Nottingham Test Virat Kohli scored crucial 97 runs. Although Kohli missed the century but because of his innings team India managed respectable first innings total of 329. He scored his 23rd Test century in 2nd innings and 2nd on this tour.  Kohli showed how class player he is and helped team India to post humongous target in front of hosts.   

Hardik Pandya 

Before the start of this test match, Hardik Pandya had faced substantial criticism. The questions arose on his all-rounder ability in the team before the Nottingham Test, but he responded to his critics with his performance in this match. Pandya bowled five English batsmen out in the first innings and helped India to gain 168 runs lead in the first innings. After that, when the Indian team needed to increase the edge by making a quick run in their second innings, Pandya then played a brilliant innings of 52 runs in 52 balls. 

Jasprit Bumrah

 In the first two Tests, Team India missed this bowler a lot. Bumrah was unable to play the first two Test matches due to injury. And as soon he got fit, he was included in the playing eleven of the third Test match. Bumrah got two wickets in the first innings of the third Test. But in the second innings when England two class batsman Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes were building the partnership, Bumrah provided the crucial breakthrough at that time and ended the partnership on 169 runs.  Bumrah picked the 2 key wickets of Buttler and Stokes on two successive bowls and brought back team into contest. He ended up picking 5 wicket haul in 2nd innings. 

Ajinkya Rahane 

India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane scored 81 runs in the first innings of this Test. He shared a 159-run partnership with Kohli. Thanks to this partnership, team India scored a score of 329 in the first innings. Rahane gave the answers to questions which were raised on his ability, along with this excellent innings, as well as also played an important role in India’s victory.

 

Cheteshwar Pujara 

 Pujara told in this test that, a big player is only one innings away from getting his form back. Pujara played the best innings of 72 in the second innings of this Test match. He not only contributed with Kohli but also contributed vital runs to India’s lead of 520 runs.
