Steve Smith Steps Down As Rajasthan Royals Skipper

Another big decision on Steve Smith after being banned for one test match in ball tempering controversy in the third Test against South Africa Now Steve Smith have decided to take the decision of withdrawing the team’s command from the Rajasthan Royals.

Rajasthan Royals gave the information to the media on Monday. Instead of Smith, in IPL 2018, Team India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has now been appointed as his new captain.

Zubin Bharucha, a Rajasthan official said, “The incident in Cape Town has certainly disturbed the cricketing world. We have been in constant touch with the BCCI and taken their counsel. Furthermore, we have been in regular contact with Steve.”

“It’s in the best interest of the Rajasthan Royals that he steps down as Captain so the team can get ready for the start of the IPL without the ongoing distractions.”

Speaking on Rajasthan’s new skipper, Bharucha added, “Ajinkya Rahane has been a vital part of the Royals family for a long time now and he understands the culture and values of our team. We have absolutely no doubt that he will be a great leader of the Rajasthan Royals.”

“Rajasthan Royals will do everything possible to protect the values and the integrity of the game. We agree with Steve’s decision to step down as captain, and we are fortunate to have such a capable successor with Ajinkya Rahane. 

The ICC has taken action against Steve Smith for the ball-tampering incident throughout the day. Smith has been cut off 100 percent of his honor and has been suspended for one Test match. After this, the information came to the notice that Rajasthan Royals would also take action against Smith. But Smith has already decided to step down from captaincy.

Apart from Smith, Kangaroo opener David Warner has also been removed from the post of vice-captain. At the same time, it is believed that Sunrisers Hyderabad will also snatch Warner from captaincy and appointed Shikhar Dhawan as its new captain.
