Asia Cup: Rohit Sharma to Lead Team India ; Virat Kohli Rested

The Indian team has been selected for Asia Cup 2018. Indian captain Virat Kohli has been rested for this tournament. In this 50-over tournament, Rohit Sharm will lead the Team India in the absence of Kohli.

Kohli is battling with waist pain and to see the next 3 months schedule he has been rested. In next 3 months India has to play 6 Test matches, including two West Indians and four against Australia. The selectors will also have to take precautionary measures regarding the workload on Kohli. 

The tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates from 15 to 28 September 2018. Six teams will take part in this tournament. These include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The sixth team will be the one who will win the Asia Cup qualifiers final. It will be decided on 6th September.

India will face arch rivals Pakistan two times and it can turn into 3 times if both reach finals of the tournament. Defending champion India will take on Pakistan on September 19. Both teams will face each other after 15 months. The last encounter between India and Pakistan was in the final of the Champions Trophy on 18 June 2017. In which Pakistan beaten India by 180 runs and won the tournament.  

In this team, a new face has been given the opportunity, whose name is Khalil Ahmed

Khalil Ahmed is the fast bowler of Rajasthan. This player of Tonk district recently impressed everyone by performing brilliantly in the series of 4 countries. Khalil has so far taken 2 wickets in 2 first class matches and 28 wickets in 17 list A matches. Khalil had played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL this year.
