Date & Venue: 8-12 December, 2016, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
Day 5: England started the day on overnight score of 182/6 with Jonny Bairstow on the crease on 50 runs and Jos Buttler joined him on the crease facing Ashwin; survived the 3 balls without any damage. Ravichandran Ashwin did provide the breakthrough in his 2nd over of the day as he bowled a caram bowl trapped Bairstow in front of wickets on 51 runs and flurry of wickets started. No other England batsmen stayed long on the crease as Ravichandran Ashwin picked wickets of all Englishmen and finished the match in just half an hour and England were bowled on 195. India won the match by 36 runs and an innings and taking insuperable lead of 3-0. Ashwin wins again in this innings with his bowling taking 6 wickets for 85 runs and 6/112 in first innings making his tally to 12 wickets in a match with 24 5 wickets howls. India won the match in Wankhede after 1993 against England.
Skipper Virat Kohli was the defiantly the hero of the match as with the bat he played remarkable innings by making 235 runs through its calculated batting s with wickets falling around him to score his 3rd double ton of the year. Moreover Jayant Yadav played very sensible inning down the order scoring 104 coming at no.9 best individual score by any Indian at no.9. Both Kohli and Jayant Yadav added crucial 241 runs for the 8th wicket to help the hosts to post mammoth total of 631 runs on the board in first innings. Murali Vijay also hit done up the order providing good start he made 136 runs. England had scored a respectable total of 400 in the first innings which looked good enough score on a Wankhede track as the pitch was assisting the spinners from the day one. But 6-wickets of Ashwin and 4-wickets by Ravinder Jadeja put India in fighting position.
The triumph means India have clinched the series 3-0 still one match to go in the series. Good bye for now we will return back in next and final match of the test series which will start on 16th Dec 2016 played in Chennai.
