Steve Smith hits ton, Australia in commanding position

1st Test (Day-Night Match)

Day 1: Australia winning the toss this after losing 6 consecutive tosses and elected to bat first in Day-Night test match with the pink ball.  Australia playing XI is same as which beat South Africa in Adelaide and for Pakistan Yasir and Misabh return to side from injury and ban. Australia started the innings with Matthew Renshaw and David Warner got to good start as they had opening stand of 70 runs before David Warner was adjudged LBW on Amir balling in 24th over on 32 runs.

Usman Khwaja was the next batsmen move on to crease at number 3 but didn’t stayed long on the crease as he got out in 25th over soft dismissal straight Misabh-ul-Haq on the ball of Yasir. All of a sudden Australia reduced to 75/2 which brought skipper Steven Smith to crease at number 4.  Since then Matthew Renshaw and Steve Smith played carefully playing the ball on merit basis the duo added 76 runs before Renshaw outside edged the ball and caught behind by S Ahmed on the ball of Riaz at 71 runs which brought Peter Handscomb to the crease ;

There was no further damage and Steve Smith 54* and Handscomb went to  the dinner break Australia were 182/3. Meanwhile after dinner both the players played their natural game; Handscomb completed its 2nd fifty in 78th over of the innings. Steve Smith also completed his 16th test century and first against Pakistan in 87th over.

Steve Smith on 110* and Peter Handscomb on 64* the duo still on the crease at the end of the day; they both added unbeaten 137 run partnership for the 4th wicket. Mohammad Amir, Yasir Shah and Wahab Riaz all three picked one wicket each. Pakistan need to prepare the strategy for the day 2 otherwise it will be too late because Australia is already put on 288 runs for the loss of 3 wickets.
