Day 4: Pakistan started the day on 129/7; just went to add 42 runs in the tally and got all out on 171 runs. Sohail posted his best score 40 as he and Asad Shafiq (17) showed gritty confrontation at the beginning of the day. However their 53 runs partnership for the eighth wicket ended when Sohail half-heartedly pulled a short-pitched Southee delivery to de Grandhomme at backward square.Wagner, figures of 3/34, claimed the wicket of Shafiq and Southee closed the innings when he had Rahat Ali caught for two. Southee finished with 3/53 and Trent Boult seized 3/37. Target set by Pakistan of just 105 runs, Pakistan got to good start as they got early wicket of Latham at 19/1. After that Kane Williamson 61 and Raval 36 not out had 83 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket. But it was too late for Pakistan as New Zealand was just one run away from the first test win. It was a low-scoring match and was draped up inside eight sessions after the first day’s washout; with Williamson’s second innings 61 was his 24th Test 50 and the top scorer of the match. A Kane Williamson half century saw New Zealand break a 4 Test losing streak as they have beaten Pakistan by eight wickets.
