IND vs WI: India Win by 8 Wickets, Rohit-Virat Slam Centuries

Skipper Virat Kohli and Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma dazzling hundreds helped India chase down a massive 323-run target in just 42.1 overs with 8 wickets in hand. Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 152 runs and Raydu on 22* on the other end.

After being asked to bat, West Indies bounced back and posted humongous total of 322 runs with the loss of 8 wickets, thanks to Shimron Hetmyer 106-run knock off just 78 balls. 

Double Hundred partnership between Kohli and Rohit 

Thomas gave India the first blow by disturbing stumps of Shikhar Dhawan on the score 10 runs, but after that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli together made a double century partnership and converted that India win. Both of them rained four sixes all around the stadium of Guwahati. Bishoo gave India the second blow on 256 runs, stumped skipper Kohli on 140 runs.

Virat Breached Milestone

Kohli scored 36th  ODI hundred and 60th of his career. He is the only 5th batsman to reach here. He achieved this place in 386th innings of his career. As captain, he has scored 14th century Along with this, he came in second place as the captain of One Day Internationals, who scored the highest century. Kohli left behind South Africa’s AB de Villiers who had 13 centuries as captain.

Australia’s legendary batsman Ricky Ponting has made the most centuries in ODIs as a skipper; Ponting had scored 22 centuries. While Ponting took 220 innings for 22 centuries, Kohli has scored 14 hundreds in just 50 innings.

Earlier for India this record was on the named of Sourav Ganguly who scored 11 hundred.

It was also Kohli’s fifth ODI century against the West Indies, which is the most by an Indian batsman

 Virat Kohli also attained another most important milestone and joined elite club. The India skipper scored his 2000th International run in 2018. This is the third successive year that Kohli has scored 2000 international runs. Only three players ever have achieved the feat. Sachin Tendulkar did it from 1996-1998. Matthew Hayden from 2002-2004 and Joe Root from 2015-2017.

This is the fifth time The Delhi batsman has scored 2000 runs in International cricket in a calendar year. Only Kumar Sangakkara with 6 is ahead of him in the list.

Kohli and Rohit Sharma added  246 runs in the First ODI, this is their 15th century stand in the 50 over cricket. At top of the list are Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar who have 26 hundred  run partnerships to their name.

It was Rohit’s 20th ODI hundred which came off just 117 balls with 15 fours and eight sixes.
