Bangladesh became a Full Member of the ICC, which enabled them to play Test cricket. The board officially changed its name to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and its president Saber Chowdhury described his country’s elevation to Test status as the third most historic event in our national life”.
In May/June 2000, Bangladesh had hosted the 2000 Asia Cup, won by Pakistan. In November of that year, team played their first-ever Test match against India at the National Stadium, India winning by 9 wickets. Bangladesh tasted its first win against Zimbabwe in Chittagong were they defeated Zimbabwe by 226 runs .So far Bangladesh had played 97 Test Matches and won just 8. Last win came against England at Dhaka which was won by Bangladesh by 108 runs in Oct 2016.
The team has improved a lot in past years with his bowlers and batsmen showing great skills on the field. Bangladesh has registered their second highest total against New Zealand i.e. 595/8d Jan 2017 but lost that match unfortunately which could be drawn with little more effort. All though it will be hard for Bangladeshi players to give tough competition to India seeing its current performance and Ranking but India can’t take them lightly.
As both are playing only just one test chances of errors are less. All in all it we will be great to watch because Bangladesh has troubled India in ODI’s and T20I in the past. Hoping best they don’t trouble much in Test Match. The Match is scheduled to take place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on 9th Feb 2017.
