On This Day, 2009 Sachin Tendulkar Completed 30000 Runs In International Cricket

On This Day, (20 Nov 2009) Sachin Tendulkar conquered yet another milestone when he became the first batsman to complete 30,000 runs in international cricket.

The master blaster reached the landmark when he clipped left-arm-pacer Chanaka Welegedara to square-leg for his 35th run after lunch on the fifth day  at the Sardar Patel Stadium at Motera went on to complete his 43rd test hundred by the end of the day 5

This was also the same game in which Mahela Jayawardene scored 275, as Sri Lanka declared on a mammoth score 760/7. Tillakratne Dilshan and Prasanna Jayawrdene also scored massive tons.

Tendulkar required 39 runs for the milestone before the Test. However in first innings he just managed four runs on the ball of Welegedara.

This was is his 160th Test; ahead of the match, the 36-year-old Tendulkar  has 17,178 runs in ODI cricket, 10 runs in the only T20 International he’s played, and 12,812 Test runs at the time the landmark was reached.

He holds the record for most ODI and Test runs and centuries.

The legendary cricketer, who completed 20 years in international cricket ahead of the Test, is the highest run-maker in both Tests and ODIs. And no batsman has notched up more hundreds that his 43 in Tests and 45 in the ODIs.
